Grilling Goodness at The Pitz

One of the great things about Social Media is that you can always count on people sharing their experiences with you.

Be it an experience with a service provider or eatery, they are sure to highlight the level of service or goods received.

It was through Social Media that I discovered The Pitz.

The place had just opened and people were ranting and raving about the quality of food as well as the affordable prices.

There was no doubt that I had to try this place!

The Pitz is situated at 208 Kenneth Kaunda Road, Durban North.

They describe their establishment as a place where traditional braaing meets good company and they could not have summed it up better!

The venue is funky and inviting. There are always groups of people, both young and old, enjoying the atmosphere and food.

What I personally loved was the South African décor. From the crate seats to the Nelson Mandela mural, everything is so original and fun.

The food at The Pitz is extremely inviting. One of their signature items is their potato chips which are actually wedges, with the skins still on, spiced with a mix that can only be described as pure magic!

The menu itself has everything from starters to salads, mains which consist of everything from steaks and brisket as well as burgers and sides.

I tried the Bodybuilder meal which is 350g of chicken fillets in your choice of lemon & herb, peri-peri or Pitz barbecue sauce. It's accompanied with either chips, salad, pap or roasted vegetables. I opted for the chips of course.

The meal was delicious. The chips were cooked properly and well seasoned. The chicken fillets in peri-peri sauce were absolutely scrumptious. The portion was quite big so I had left overs to enjoy later.

My husband had the Braai Mix meal which consists of chicken wings, brisket and boerewors served with peri-peri or barbecue and a side of roasted vegetables.

He enjoyed his entire meal and was keen to come back to try something else on the menu.

So there we were, 3 weeks later, back at the Pitz. This time he tried 500g T-bone steak marinated in The Pitz barbecue sauce. He chose a side of chips.

He said that the steak was just a little bit dry, but was delicious and well seasoned.

This time I had the Chicken Supremo, a chicken breast stuffed with mushroom, sun-dried tomatoes and onion with parmesan cheese, on a bed of brinjal in a creamy thyme sauce.

I do not think that the brinjal and thyme sauce worked, but the rest of the meal was really yummy. The chicken was well cooked and full of flavour.

So if ever you find yourself in the area, pop into The Pitz. You will not be disappointed. Whether sit down or takeaway, their food is consistent.

Contact The Pitz on 031 563 1537 or visit their website.

Happy Munching!
